“The small town with the great artwork”

In Laholm’s town there are almost forty public artworks – this we can partly thank Mayor Axel Malmquist (1895–1980) for. Malmquist initiated the collection with the surplus from the annual theatre play – The Lagaholm Play – which he wrote and directed between 1933 and 1968.

The municipality also has a number of museums and galleries. At Hästtorget (the Horse Square) in central Laholm you’ll find Teckningmuseet, the only museum of drawings in the Nordics, and in Hishult lies an art gallery known as “Little Louisiana”. Laholm’s Theatre, built in 1913, boasts one of the town’s most beautiful interiors. Here you can go and see plays, concerts and lectures. Other cultural events in Laholm include Konstrundan (the Art Tour in Halland), Swedish Film Days, Laholm’s Summer Play and Laholm’s Cultural Night. Please contact the Tourist Information Centre or look in the event calendar for more information. Laholm has an active cultural life, all year round!
